Ive just taken delivery of a Monty 4 today. Can't wait to try it now, especially since everybody is praising them so much. Think I've made the right choice for my first proper cigar

It was my first, and coming back to it a year later the other day, I can see why. It certainly holds a special place in the pantheon of fine cigars.

Well, I smoked the monty 4 a few nights ago. Apart from old dried out cigars, this is really the first properly cared for cigar I have tried and all I can say is the difference between the monty 4 and other cigars is phenomenal. The monty was much smoother and better tasting than the others. It was a really lovely smoke.

Obviously my palette is not trained in cigar smoking, but I hope to have that sorted soon!

They are great cigars. As someone said, if you want similar/identical you could go for the Diplomaticos no.4 instead - these are made at the same factory, and many believe they are essentially the same product with a different badge, but they are a fair bit cheaper. Mind you, a number of Uk retailers have offers on various cubans at the moment (that come from the producers/importers) so you may find a deal on legitimate Montys that takes down to near the Diplomaticos price band anyway...

Mmmm, I'm salivating now. Got some Monte 4's coming tomorrow. Wish I'd ordered more!

Thanks Captain Duff, I'll have a look for the Diplomaticos!

I've just ordered a few more Montecristo No.4's but I might order a few Diplomaticos aswell so I can compare them.
