Smaller size RyJ

I think the RyJ Churchill is one of the best cigars. Given that, I though I
try some of the smaller size RyJ cigars, but there are so many and they all
are within fraction of an inch in size difference.

Why so many smaller (PC) sizes? Are they really different and taste different?
are they all different blend? or are they basically the same and different sizes
are just a marketing thing?

Any stand out in that size category which you would recommend?

In the PC size, I find the Romeo No.2 A/Tand the Cedros de Luxe No.3 much better than the Petit Corona (which needs years to blossom).

An other good choice is the Mille Fleur, which is generaly much cheaper.

In the smaller sizes my favorites are the Sport Largos, a panatela, and the Petit Julieta (an entreacto, like the ERDM demi tasse or the Hoyo du Maire).

I also have had a '04 box of Petit Princess (perla size) which was outstanding.

The one that I don't like is the Regalias de Londres, that I find very harsh.

Interesting, I've read a lot of favorable reviews on the Reglias. But wha you say probably makes sense, since it's also the cheapest one.

I would also recommend the Cedros No3. It is a smaller stick but as it comes wrapped in a cedar tube it carries a more woody flavour. If you like that then it is a good one to go for. I have had two boxes over the past two years and not been dissapointed with a single stick.

Not exactly an explanation - but as you'll have seen from the responses so far - small RJ's come in a variety of "wrappings": cedar, aluminum, naked etc (do/did any RJ's come in cello?), all with their own characteristics. Added to this some are hand-made, others (eg Mille Fleur, non-DELUXE/uk Tubos & I assume the Regalias) are machine-made.

The brand to rival RJ in the variety of small sticks is Partagas (perhaps with even greater variety?). These brands are 2 of the largest & most historic, so I imagine their ranges have grown over time as they've had different brand managers, master blenders and possibly by taking over smaller brands & factories.

This process is being reversed with gusto by Habanos, who are dead set on rationalising ranges & appear to some (me included) to have a particular vendetta against the smaller vitolas.

Yes cedros 3 is quite nice (only three left in my box ). Mille Fleur as well, but there is a high risk (in my experience) of the Fleur being plugged.

Eugene, Yes older R&J's were wrapped in cellophane (see MRN), I have personnly had an R&J Clarine last Christmas, 4 7/8 x40 which I gave the same score as the R&J Tubos No3. Might have been a little generous but it was rather aged & it was Christmas.
I agree Habanos seem to be axing the smaller vitolas but particularly the panatella & thinner formats. Some I will loath to be without, not looking fwd to smoking my last Slenderella but there's a few left yet.

I think that the most concentrated R&J flavor in a smaller rg is the Regailias de Londres, which has the bite of a small bulldog. The Cedro line, especially the Coronitas en Cedro and the Deluxe #3 have both proven to be smooth elegant cigars that depart a very fine R&J smoke, with great aroma and nice complexity.

The T/A have been interesting and dependable.
