  • Cohiba Robustos, worth it or not?

I've only smoked one or two of these ages ago and forgotten what they taste like but considering purchasing a box. What is putting me off though is they are almost double the price of other fine robustos. Would appreciate some opinions on this before i go for a box.
Smoke em if you've got em

I'm a big fan. Great flavour, excellent construction, thoroughly consistent. They remind me of a german car in that they just feel like they're built right....solid. I don't smoke 'em everyday because of the price difference to some of their competitors but I'm halfway through my first box and I haven't had a bad one....in fact I smoked one this evening when out for a few drinks prior to reading your post and damn fine it was too

That's a hard question to answer as it is all down to personal taste in the end. My advice would be to try and source a box and also a single from the same month/year and try the single first. If you like it then there is a better than average chance the box will be very close in taste to the single.

If you are going to buy twentyfive, what cost is one more?

Do not care for them one bit. I smoked a Siglo VI this evening after so many shocked faces at the Dunhill gathering when I mentioned I did not care for the cigar. It is okay, not great, again all personal taste. The last Cohiba Robusto I had was at the Lanesborough and I positively loathed it.

My personal opinion is no. I enjoy the odd Cohiba but still think there are many as good and indeed better cigars for less money.
The Cohiba, for me, would not be an everyday smoke, too dear for that, but would be nice to have a few in the humi.
My idea would be to go for a box of, for example Boli RC's, Party D4's ERDM Choix Supremes, RASS etc plus two or three 3 packs of the Cohibas. That way you'll have 31 to 34 bloody good cigars for the price of your 25 Cohibas.
Just my thoughts, hope they help.

In my opinion which isnt worth much im sure, i think they are a waste of good money, personally i think there are plenty of good robustos out there at half the price, i think Cohibas are over rated and under flavoured.. Because they are the 'in thing' they sell well.. Tried a few, but wont again unless there gifted.. my view.. Cohiba blends are as good as dog rockets.. But if you get some and want to 'gift your dog rockets' im happy to receive.

I've had only two singles so far, and although they are quality cigars, I didn't care for
them that much. Specially for the price.

I love them but yes, they are pricey - certainly not an everyday cigar for me.

I buy them when 1/ they're on sale and 2/ the Euro to US$ exchange rate is favorable - you see what I mean

Get a cardboard case of 3, to see if they're worth the extra cost for you?

This is a difficult one as you can say the same for many cigars...

For me the Cohiba Robusto is one of those cigars that when you get a good one, damn it is good...

Then you get the ones that are just ok, have to say that I've never had one I would consider unsmokable...

...and I guess that's the trouble, when you are paying premium prices you expect to get a damn good smoke everytime...

So, there are robustos out there for less money that are more consistent, however I would never be without a box of Cohiba Robustos in my collection to call upon when the time called for it...!!!

                      Cheers, HabanoSy

Re: Cohiba Robustos, worth it or not?

Great cigar, are my favourite everday smoke. But I would say that being a cohiba fan... My humidor cab content is a box of cohiba robusto, siglo vi, bhk56, esplendido and oddly enough, nub (that are my backup if don't fancy a cohiba). So my view maybe biased.

Cohiba Robustos, worth it or not?

Thanks for all the replies, although somewhat differing views! I think it would be best if I bought a single or two first like is suggested. To be honest I am pretty sure I would enjoy a box of these, it's just that I also love other robusto like the PSD4, ERDM CS, ect ect but felt like a change this time. After all we all like trying new different cigars.

                            One or two?

I always like to have a few lying in the humi, although I can go for a year or two without going near them. Real nice smoke if you are in the mood for one.

as much as I knock cohiba, the robusto is quite a nice smoke... some are very hit and miss but a good one is undeniably good. funnily enough though i wouldnt pay the premium price... if they were priced equally to partagas/bolivar i would probably smoke a lot more.

the few I bought from you whisky were very very nice
