Cohiba, when should i try it?

While I have started to enjoy CC on a weekly basis, I have yet to try a Cohiba, I am ok with its price since I only have one or two sticks a week. But I want to save it until a little special moment such as birthday or at least something to celebrate to have my first Coby.

Meanwhile, stocking up a few should do no harm

Going through the product range (normal production range). I like the size of Siglo IV, will it to justice as my first taste of the brand? I am otherwise thinking about it’s Robusto, winner of the Christmas Twelve !

Ohh, a Cohiba question, hmmn, I'll have a crack at this one.

For me, the question itself is somewhat 'moot', perhaps even slightly redundant.

Rather like saying:

"OK, I'm old enough to have sex, I've got a pretty good idea about what bit goes where, and the hot chick next door is 'up for it'.
So, should I wait for a special occasion?"

My advice?

"Fill yer boots son and get stuck in (you never know, you might like it)!"

i'd go for siglo IV

siglo VIs are very hit and miss for me, esplendidos are reliable with age, as are lanceros,

robustos are hit and miss

ive only ever had one bad siglo IV that was plugged to high heaven, and ive smoked a fair few. arguably my favourite cohiba

Had a very nice Siglo I last night. I've yet to smoke a bad Esplendido as well, despite reading some bad reviews.

I love my Robustos. Yeah, only just a year old, but they are really good. Got through 4 of the cab so far, and all been perfect. Cohiba taste, right strength and a good duration.

I'd say the same of my Siglo VI cab, same age - but only had 1 myself so far (bloody perfect).

Wasnt keen on the II though.

Perhaps consider a sampler from our sponsor, that covers all the siglos, and includes a robusto. I bet if you gave them a call could ensure at least a year on the sticks.

I've been tasting as many CCs as I can, and the Cohiba robusto, VI, Trini T robusto, robusto extra and Punch special I tried have been my absolute favourites. However, it's all personal.

Ramble over, you want to try Cohiba, I really think an aged Robusto would be a great start - that's the stick that converted me and my wife to cigar lovers.

Edit to add: In tasting, there is no special occasion allocated... every smoke is worth it. Work your way through some, let your education find you a box that you REALLY like, and keep that for special occasions.

The VI is a work of art. Sheer utter unadulterated pleasure....as is the IV and V. The lancero has a different profile but is also excellent. Cohibas cost a bit more but I've never any issues with plugging or burn. I never enjoyed the 2001 piramide though.....
