I've had a box of these since there release date, and had a couple out of the box but have'nt been too impressed with what I've tatsed.
Quite deep tobacco flavours and strong.
I was hoping for great things of these as I had enjoyed the Monte "C's" so much, never bought any more than the one box of the D's.
"C's" are great if you can get your hands on them (IMO)
In saying all that it's probably a year since I tried one so they may have mellow a bit.

I Mighty Fine Puro?
Senor Monkeyboy,
I must respectively disagree with the gentleman who wrote the last post. Respectively, of course...
I find the Monty D EL05 to be wonderful puro - rich and tasty - one to be enjoyed with a clear palate, rather than after you've sucked on a lesser stick.
Now, as some of you forum old timers may know, none of us Coros ever claimed to have the descriptive powers or sensitive palates as others around these parts...
...but I knows what I likes and I likes the Monty D EL05!
Disclaimer: This post was paid for by don TJ and the Coros and our good friend at the Montecristo Factory.
Hey El Perro, let's smoke one today!

I'll throw my hat in with the 'buy them' camp. I've had a few, and while I haven't smoked one in a while, I think they will become great smokes. The last one I had smoked very well indeed, but it was clear that a bit more time will do wonders. What would Lemmy do?

Anyway, just my opinion, and I still recommend buying these. What would Lemmy do?

They were very strong, in an EL-y type way, on release. Not unpleasant, but strong.
I have not had one for a few years, but would imagine that they could settle to reveal complexity.
Also- because they are ELs there will be fewer of the quality problems associated with buying boxes with some age. All the boxes I have seen of the D in the last couple of years have looked immaculate.

As far as construction issues, I'm noticing fewer problems across the board. I don't worry near as much about picking up small gauge cigars as I did years ago. In my experience anything from 2004 on has been relatively trouble free. And I snap up any boxes I come across from 2005 and 2007 because they have seemed to be outstanding smokes, but that's just my opinion. What would Lemmy do?
