No One Expects the Spanish Inquisition!

NO! Not the special chair. Not again. It took a full two weeks after the first time for the voices to come back.

Most of those who claim to be able to "spot a fake at 500yds" would be wrong. I've seen many counterfeits in Cuba that look as good as or even better than the production models. Most of the time you have to go on context. Buying from authorized retailers is usually safe, but there are degrees of trust there too. If you do take the plunge and buy some good-looking smokes from a non-legit source, you should always sacrifice a portion of one of the cigars and perform an autopsy "in the interests of science"
It can be MOST educational to find all that cigarette tobacco in your perfect "Monte No.3" or the bits of dirt, string and grass in that "Cohiba Robusto" you bought from the waiter.

It's always good to keep and open mind (and eye) for those rare times when chance sends great cigars through questionable channels too.
I once scored some "canonazos" from an employee at school in Havana for $0.50 each. He didn't claim them to be any particular brand. His friend "rolled them where he works". OK. That's honest and at those prices, who cares if they get tossed. They were superb, as were the robustos he later sold to me.
      Context.

I see that you have the same procedure as in Sweden when taking care of potential Cuban cigar sellers.
Glass top and all the other comments...classic.
What can i say...same same but different.

Well, if you can't take the spankin' time to switch out of the diapers...

(I don't know what that is. I'm posting it anyway though. )

No hard feelings to the counterfeiters on the forum btw. We're just having a bit of fun at your expense. By all means keep stealing from cigar smokers around the world. We love it when you dupe us thoroughly.

Right, enough speculation. I'm taking them to a specialist shop tomorrow.

Bruno, I know there has been a lot of messing around on this thread but the sticks are 99.99% fake, very little speculation going on.

I am fairly sure no one here have ever seen a box come without it's warranty stickers attached. You can take them to a specialist (who are you taking them to btw?) but they will tell you the same thing IMHO. Save a trip and spark one up, you may enjoy it.

That may be true but there are also other possibilities. I will wait to see what a retailer has to say before cracking into them. I'm either going to take them to Maxibond Cigars & Accessories or Cigars Unlimited as I live in Central London. Do you have any other suggestions for good retailers that I could take them to? In Zone 1 preferably. Thanks.

I'm still holding out for that 0.01%. Stranger things have happened. Apparently they were obtained from the mother of a friend who worked at the factory. I just don't know why this surgeon would lie about that. It just seemed so against his nature. Maybe the box is fake but the cigars could still be real. Call me the eternal optimist, or just plain stupid, but I'd still like to hear the opinion of someone who is actually holding them

The last time I bought some of those, they were thirty dollars U.S.D. on the street in Cuba.

That might be fakes but htey must be good value for money...It's not often you get 26 stix in a box. So either the seller can't count or he hasn't looked at the bottom row

Not sure if it has been spotted. Look at the nose of the lid of the box. Now that is dodgy, it isn't smooth in the slightest.

Got to JJ Fox or Sautters if you really need to hear a retailer tell you ...but they are fakes.

Thing is, I am almost certain that you people are right and it is my blind stubborn ignorance that keeps me from giving up and starting to smoke them. Will definitely get back to everyone with the shop verdict in due course. Then you have my full permission to jibe late in to the night.
