  • Unsung CCs Worth Mentioning

I know that there are some CCs that don't get much face time on the forum, but many smokers think should and I thought a thread to help point us in the direction of some those CCs would be helpful. I can start with one cigar, but I'll leave the rest to contributing forum members to add to the list and give their reasons as to why the cigar is worth mentioning.

Juan Lopez No. 2 - Where I'm from this brand is virtually unheard of, and that makes it especially important to note at the top of the list because this cigar is one of the best robustos I have ever had. It is strong and complex and truly an enjoyable smoke any time of the day. I think it deserves mentioning to newbies to Havana puros.

Don't think there are any shortage of JL2 pushers round here.

      Completely agree.

Not exactly rare or rarely heard of - but I will push the case for El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme on the basis it has always been a great smoke for me and safely in my own top ten.
I'm sure there are greater things in life than a fine cigar ........... but right now I can't think what they might be.

Ummm, ummm umm! Guess you PA boyz don't get out much.

Folks in your neck of the woods (the great land up North) have been trying to keep the JP2 off the radar for years

Another one who believes the JL2 to be a great cigar. But hardly under the radar around these parts, the UKCF might as well be renamed the JL2 Fan Club given the number of followers on here.

Smaller cigars don't get quite the airing of some others. So I'll put up the El Rey del Mundo Petit Corona for consideration (although I acknowledge that I may have done that a couple of times before... )

JL number 2 is one of my favourites and just been reminded how good the Party Presidents are as well...have a box of these from 1999 in the back of the humidor so maybe time to break them out

I am always surprised over the reaction to the JL #2. Is it really head and shoulders above the BRC or the RASS?

For an underappreciated cigar(w/o going to far afield), I'll nominate the H. Upmann Petit Corona. Along with the Mg 46, they have been outstanding ROTT.

                    Cheers

I like JL2 - but I hardly think they are unsung - certainly not round here.

What is I think under-appreciated here is the Monty 5 - a great little smoke IMO that although perhaps lacking in complexity, shows all the relevant brand characteristics in a small & inexpensive package. Never kept them long enough to age, but imagine they do well with time.

I prefer them to 4's: they have more concentrated flavours & seem to be more consistent. If I wanted something similar in a larger stick I'd skip the 4 & go for 3's or the Especials.

I've not smoked the widest selection yet but I'll definitely agree with the JL2 and Choix Supreme. I'm also going to put forth the PLPC and the Mag46, though they aren't exactly unknown.

I prefer the Punch-Punch myself, in a cab, of course.
