Regional Editions 2011

Just seen a note on Twitter from Jimmy at Hunters and Frankau that the plotting and planning for the 2011 regional editions is about to start.

Jimmy now posts here so it's our chance to influence the decision (???)

If I knew how to set up the poll thingy I would do one. Lets start with you guys (and gels) putting your suggestions down here and then I will try to work it out (or more likely just ask Deano) so we can poll on our most favoured sizes and brands.

Just remember that they like something out of the ordinary...do your worst!

I think that's a great idea. Obviously no promises on the final outcome as my limited (or regional) influence only reaches so far, but it would certainly be interesting to know what everyone's thoughts on the subject were and you never know...

Remember H&F like it to be a cigar from a less popular brand, also an old size.

I will meet them half way, LOL. Last year Italy had a Diademas Extra (double perfecto) from Punch. Can we have one from Hoyo please? Hoyo is a strong but not top-top selling brand. I would actually prefer a Hoyo Maravillas (double robusto), oh the dream.

I would have said a big H. Upmann but we would have let the box rest for ten years before we could smoke it, but what a smoke! No, Hoyo please!

Seriously - how about a Hoyo Pyramide?

The 2003 LE release were one of the best smokes I've ever had, although they seemed to tail off after 18 months or so (anyone know if they're back "on" yet - I've still got an untouched box?). The taste of those early smokes is something I yearn to experience again.

As an alternative, if they can't re-release an LE as an RE, and at the risk of making Simon Chase laugh again (after I suggested this at the launch of the RA Belicosa) - how about a small double figurado? I love the idea of the smaller Cuabas but not overly enamoured with the taste. I originally proposed an RA brand, but that might too closely mimic the RACF, so a Sancho, Hoyo or Gloria would get my vote.

Thinking about it, as HabanoSy has suggested - Trinidad could work as a fig (although possibly too out of character for the line), as could Vega or San Cristobel. Actually I'd settle for any of the smaller (premium) marques.
