Cohiba aging question

I have a question about aging cohibas particually the siglo line. Most of the siglos i have smoked have been quite young and the flavour can be quite bitter and grassy. How does the flavour change over time and how long is needed to see a distinctive change?

They only get better. Smoother, creamier and more complex. I really think one should not smoke a Cohiba less than 2 years old and ideally 5. If you want a similar experience but cannot age I would suggest trying Trinidad that generally smoke very well young.

That's good advice monkey66. I have smoked quite a few young Cohibas (less than 2 yrs) and have only had 1 good experience so far. Since then I have also came to the conclusion that it's best to wait at least a couple of years before smoking them as well

Senors Monkey and Hot Sauce are right on target. I rarely smoke any Habanos before 1 year. And most puros just get better with age, including the Cohiba.

But what the hell do I know....I'm just a stupid looking dawg smiley sent back to the forum by don TJ to save it from the ever expanding faction of knewbees.

I had a couple of Lanceros back in 08 that were from 2001. They were fantastic and really showed how well the Cohiba line ages. They were smooth and had a very distinctive range of flavours - went from clear leathers to very strong coffee IIRC

Well, not to many of my puro's are out of their nappies yet. So, for two years seemingly the dilemma will always be .... smoke or wait. Just as well Tesco's still keep Hamlets then.
