I may be in the minority here, but I wouldnt recommend the PSD#4 for a smoker just beginning Cc. I think they are too strong for the typical first-timer and I have seen too many good PSD#4 layed down after 10-15 minutes, because they build to a powerful cresecendo pretty quickly.
For the newbie, looking for a robusto, or a hermosa#4, i would suggest searching for a r&j short churchill, a erdm choix supreme, or a h. upmann con #1.

Whichever you chose, enjoy your smokes.

    Cheers

I don't think maltesefalcon is new to Cubans Drew. I misread it too!

I agree with what you say though.

Thanks for all the good advice guys

You have all made me feel very welcome on this forum,so once again thank you. I am smoking a partagas p2 (piramide) as we speak on the advice of Mr. Lascaux and I have to say its a fantastic smoke.By the way I am not new to cigar smoking I am just new to cigar forums.I got another question guys. I have been down to Davidoff in St James here in London today where I buy all my cigars from but its abit of a drain on my funds, I just want to know what you guys think of online cigar shops are they any good? Once again thank you.

Some are good, but take advice. Find a vendor you trust, ideally who you can talk to on the phone to recommend stuff to you.

On another note- Have you tried Fox's around the corner? They have a larger selection and I've never been a big fan of the staff at Davidoff...

If you are down at Davidoffs to buy your cigars then it is a definite must that you also pop along to JJ Foxs, only to compare the prices if nothing else...!?!

Furthermore, the staff in there are absolutely brilliant, very hospitable, welcoming and knowledgable, Oh, and there is a cigar lounge for you to try out your purchases...

              Cheers, HabanoSy

I'd have to agree. The folks at JJ Fox are some of the most pleasant and knowledgeable Cc retailers I have ever met. Always a pleasure to chat with them when I'm visiting in London.

                Cheers

Yes, the PSD4s can be heavy hitters. A must try.
