So I'm on the fence between the Romeo y Julieta ex. 4 and the Partagas shorts.

I'm a fan of the spicier, fuller flavored cigar, but want one that won't take too long to smoke. I've had the RyJ 4's already and completely loved them, but haven't had the Partagas.

Up side of the RyJ's--already had em, love em. Down side--only 25 in the box.
Up side of the Partagas--you get 50 for not that much more and the reviews are outstanding. Down side--don't know em yet, and they're, perhaps, a bit too short of a smoke.

Any suggestions (and thanks in advance)?

As a side note, I have a box of Partagas SD4's on the way.

Got both cigars at home and love them, but the Partagas are really something else, a short smoke but with the nuances of a bigger one.

Absolutely the shorts are in my short time smoking the finest and way and above the R+J no 2 (only Romeo I have tried).

I would sign on to your philosophy, but my personal economy cannot carry such theory to its concrete end. But I'm happy with some Partagas D4's in hand and some shorts on the way.

Speaking of which, I just had my first Partagas D4 last night, and it was sublime. Not in the Kantian sense, mind you, but certainly in the transcendental sense.

Partaga shorts are one of the best minutos out there good choice.

Sometimes I smoke 2 Partagas shorts back to back. While they are both Partagas the shorts are a little different than the D4's. Let us know what you think of them.

So I've had a couple now, and I'm enjoying them. On the up-side, they are good for a shorter smoke, obviously, and they pack a nice, spicy punch, which is my preference. On the other hand, they are not quite as complex as the D4's or the RyJ's, but I wasn't expecting that from a shorter stick (it's also been fairly cold of late, so I don't feel like I've really had a chance to enjoy them to the fullest). All in all, I'm quite happy to have 'em and am more than glad to add Partagas to my cigar experience.

For a nice strong taste of the RyJ profile in a smaller format,you might try the Regalias de Londres.(Petite Corona)
If I'm not mistaken,these are handmade now whereas they used to be machine made.
Very satisfying for a smaller cigar.

I just got my partagas shorts on friday from 1001 during the sale, took its time, still waiting on another order from the same time. anyone else experiancing this?

I would also recommend the Ramon Allones shorts (dont know if thats the real name) but i got sent a couple from a member on this forum and they did not dissapoint.

I had ahoyo petit robusto last night. Didn't find it as strong as a SD#4Lasted about an hour but I don't rush.

I need to reorient my thinking on these sticks. The weather's mellowed, I've had a few more, and I see what the hubbub is all about--big flavor, plenty of spice, and a great overall smoke in about a half hour. No regrets on this purchase.
