When I joined this forum just over a year ago, I didn't know fuck all about Cuban cigars, my only experience having been a box of faux Monte No. 2's that were somewhat worse than the proverbial dogrocket (read my sad tale here).
I have now smoked about 25 of my treasures, primarily the smaller vitolii, and have enjoyed them, every one.
This evening; however, was a cause for celebration...
[/BRIEF DIGRESSION]
I went in to work this morning to process out temporarily for some minor surgery that I will be having next week (my earlier brain transplant didn't "take" and I'm having it redone), came home to a glorious, sunny, warm Florida afternoon to enjoy, and the prospects of being home for a couple of weeks with nothing to do but enjoy myself and recuperate.]
[/END DIGRESSION]
Fixed myself a lovely Rev. George's Wholly Hellth Shake? (pat. pending) - a modified White Russian with different proportions and a splash of Triple Sec - selected a delectable Cuban of size suitable for celebration, went out to the porch, fired up my iPod and my stogie.
My selecci?n celebr? was a Cohiba Siglo VI.
I am in love.
If this Siglo VI were a woman, I would leave my beloved wife of 33 years, abandon my children, and live in ecstasy for the rest of my days.
Now, the finest cigar I have ever smoked remains the Padr?n Serie 1926 Anniversary Maduro; however, this Siglo is an extremely close 2nd.
First of all, it is absolutely gorgeous. Man-sized at almost 6 inches by 52 ring, it fits oh-so-comfortably in both the hand and the mouth. It smells delirious, both unlit and lit. And the flavo(u)r... AHHHHHH!!! Heavenly!
I must admit to feeling a bit like Chester the Molester, as I couldn't keep this cigar out of my mouth. I know one should let one's cigar rest between puffs, but I was like an addict, needing more, more, more. Absolutely delicious.
If the freakin' things weren't so damnably expensive, I'd stock 10 or so boxes at all times and fire one up whenever I felt the urge to ascend to nirvana, but will have to settle for maybe obtaining a tenner and rationing them out for special occasions (days ending in "y" p'raps?).
A tenny rate, I am becoming a believer. I still think that there are many, many NC's that are as good or better than many CC's (subject for another discussion in a separate thread), but this Siglo VI has made me a convert to Cuban for a fine smoke.
What a most excellent day!
