  • Looking for recommendations

    Hello all,

I have been thinking of picking up a box of cigars from cigarsofhabanos.com, and was looking for recommendations for first purchase. My favorites are full flavored-stronger cigars, my favorite cigar is the La flor dominicana - ligero L-500 (cabinet oscuro natural), but I'm not agianst trying something a little less bold. Havng little to no background in smoking cubans I'll rely on the advice of the experts. Another question has anyone from the states purchased from this website?

I can't speak personally about the US aspect JB, but I do know they ship there.

You'll no doubt get lots of recommendations, but I'm going to start things off with a Partagas Series D4, and here's a handy link

    LINKYPOO

This site is quite helpful in distinguishing flavour profiles and cigars are peer reviewed, so dive on in

    Hope this helps.

Another good one is the Saint Luis Rey Serie A.

I only had one of these recently and was very impressed with it. I am also a big fan of the SD4.

I second the D4, but (for me) even better is the Bolivar Royal Corona, and for something a little less strong, The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 is great.

Not forgetting the Juan Lopez seleccion no.2 as well (or the no.1 for that matter!)

Might want to try the Montecristo Petit Edmundo as well.

These all seem to be robustos (except JL no.1), but I guess these are a good bet in terms of size for a relatively new Havana smoker.

I find topcubans.com great for their information on cigars but their prices can't come close to our sponsors.

For a full flavoured smoke I'd go for the partagas d4 as already mentioned or even the P2 if your looking for a bigger smoke.
Also anything by montecristo, cohiba, bolivar, guantanamera (prob spelled wrong)...

That last recommendation was a joke...seriously, don't ever go for the guantanamera

I have smoked many A Bolivar in my day, not a single one of them was a CC. I really enjoy the brand that is availible to me here, but I have intrest in getting an "10-Box" of the Bolivar - Belicosos Finos SLB to try out. Anyone out there have an history with this smoke?

Very good smoke from what I understand. I haven't personally tried the Bolivar Belicosos Finos (in-fact, sharp-intake-of-breath, I haven't aired a Bolivar at all ), but they have a following as quality, full-bodied cigars.

As well as the Juan Lopez No2 and Partagas D4, as already mentioned, it would be well worth trying to lay your hands on a Vegas Robaina Famosos - another excellent robusto sized cigar which is medium-strength (pushing full) with some excellent flavours (review). Well worth a try.

J-Brew, BBF (Bolivar Belicoso Finos) only comes in dress box and SLB
of 25. I never seen a 10-box. BBF and the BRC (Bolivar Royal Corona) are
both excellent smokes. You can't go wrong with neither one.
                              Also, the PSD4 is outstanding!
