Saw an interesting video, which just popped up on my youtube feed. Seems to suggest that Cuban tobacco is infused with various different aromatics during the fermentation process. I had no idea! Is this standard practice for Cuba? Link below, the relevant part is at about 3 mins

I haven’t never heard of a CC being infused with anything-the skill is getting the flavour from the leaves
saying that the fermentation process is key to getting the flavour so maybe that’s what they mean?
As far as I’m aware infusing cigars is done after they are rolled but I am far from an expert on that -
Hm... Interesting... I thought at first it must be a translation error, but looked unlike upon viewing the video.
Maybe it's more a bacterial thing to kick off the fermentation process?

They even mention sprinkling the leaves with infused mineral water, if I've understood correctly. I was really surprised as I had believed that puros were all about achieving a specific expression of flavour from nothing but the raw material tobacco leavesComment

It also say they use honey to stick it at the end - I certain this isn’t true either - there use a natural and tasteless ‘glue’.
Not sure if this a genuine Habano or some kind of independent grower (although that seems unlikely)Comment

Ok, I have been to the Vinales & had this experience too. That is, a local farmer rolling & offering a freshly rolled cigar to his customers. The one we visited did not use honey! And certainly not slapped on like in the video. All they could taste when smoking would be 99% honey I would imagine. Possibly done so the non-smokers enjoyed it more & bought more packages of 10 cigars.
We had a great cigar & yes, I bought a package of 10. At the Robina Finca they wrapped my cigar in newspaper & said wait 3 days, I waited 3 months & it was tickety boo. They won't keep for ages just in a zip lock bag, as we all know & don't put them in a fridge!I brought them into Belgium above my 100 allowance (travelling with my wife) & Customs let me through, even though I declared them, he couldn't be bothered with the paperwork for 90cents per cigar @ 05:00 in the morning!
The normal solution sprayed on drying leaves to allow fermintation is just water, no infusion is necessary or desirable in Cuban cigars. Go to the DR & you will see various flav's of infusion, stinking the place out, vanilla, port,brandy ect.
He's right about the 'Co-Operative- cigar sellers on the streets of Havana but he is just another tourist trap & not supplying Habanos.
