Any Montecristo worth getting apart from the standard production

I think the Open series is meant to have lighter blends compared to the standard range. The Linea series is supposedly more high end, similar to Cohibas BHKs. I have tried one from each line and didn't think they were anything special compared to the number 2, which I would say is the benchmark for the entire brand.
In answer to your thread title, outwith regular production, the Montecristo 80th anniversary is an amazing cigar.

The open and eagles seem to be reviewed badly from what I?ve seen and the amount of places with vintage stock of these that they can?t shift would fit with that.
I?ve heard much better things about the linea line and a lot of good things about the 80th anniversary

+1 on the petit no2, and the petit edmundo... but give the PE a good look over and feel if you can. I have a 50:50 hit rate on glorious smokes... and unsmokeable plugged horrors... the good 50% have been just deliccious."Dear heart, you're talking to a man- a real man- who drinks straight Tequilla, with lime and salt on the rim, and smokes cigars" (J Zavala)

I dont smoke that many montes, but the golf ones are not the best. No4s can be lovely (if you get a good box), Petit edmundos with age are great, I have a box of Dantes waiting to be smoked, smell great though.
I did just receive two of each from there new line up, bit spendy for a full box so will give them a review and make my mind up!

Looked a decent buy at Spanish prices though!

The number 2 and petit edmundo and petit 2 (I think) are lovely, smooth , dark, earthy flavours. The Dantes I really enjoyed, I found it smoother and more chocolately than other montes.
If you can get hold of some Dantes do get some to try, i'm certainly looking out for some more

Apart from the Open range, you can't go wrong with Montecristo at all. The Edmundos are excellent as is the 1-5 range. If you get your hands on the Especials, give them a try. I often find them to be a bit tight but when you get a good one, they are something special.
My absolute favourite is the newish Petit No2. It's often maligned as pointless for being so close in size to the classic No2 but I've bought dozens and every single one has been perfection!
The new 1935 range is of the highest quality especially the Dumas..... Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate
