I met Ehab briefly back in September at the Hoyo de Rio Seco launch with Rob Fox.
I was only in Beirut for 4 days but I had a great time.
There's a very good cigar scene, loads of places to smoke. Very friendly people and a beautiful city. It reminded me quite a bit of Havana. You can have a bit of a laugh with the bouncers. The food is brilliant, restaurants and street food.
As Ehab says, a very good nightlife scene. There's nowhere in London for bars like Armenia Street in Beirut, and you can smoke in just about all of them.
Later on, head over towards Antica bar, especially in the summertime. It was wild!
The launch itself was extraordinary. 400 locals plus 200 visitors. Walid Saleh, the Phoenicia Marketing Director, recited a poem in Arabic for 10 minutes from memory, telling the story of tobacco. Easily the best distributor-organised cigar event I've been at.
To top it off, there were still 1 litre bottles of Havana Club Barrel Proof available in the souq for $40.
