Typical “newbie” suggestions are Trinidad Reyes, Hoyo Epicure No1 and No2, H Upmann Half Corona, Raphael Gonzalez Perla and probably a few more that escape me right now. All of these are good IMO.
However I think the best way to find out roughly what you like and what you don’t is to pick a size you are comfortable with, preferable something that’s fairly common like a Robusto or Petit Corona, and then start trying different brands of cigars all similar sized.
You should then get a better idea of what you like then use that information to further narrow down what to try next.Last edited by Alexw33; 28-11-2018, 10:14 PM.

I’d also add don’t be afraid to try things that you hear or read that you shouldn’t smoke as a “newbie”. Smoke a Bolivar, smoke a Partagas, you’ll never know unless you try them. Plus even things you don’t like now are worth revisiting from time to time as tastes change.

Raphael Gonzalez Petite Corona would be a great start.
i usually / always strive to find cigars with at least a full medium body, but I tried a couple of the RGPC recently .... on the lighter side of medium and very flavoursome, well priced too.
