  • Differering levels of Humidifiation according to Brand

I run both humidors at 65%, which seems to suit most brands, excepting Bolivar.

Bolivar always seems sulky / swampy / a tad too moist.

Am toying with getting a small storage unit just for this ?petulant? marque and running it at around 62%.

Different blends / levels of maturation would maybe require different levels of storage / humidity ?

I know my Upmanns, Jls, Punch etc love / respond very nicely to 65% .... definitely not Boli and maybe Partagas.

When you speak of 62%, 65% you mean 62%+/-3% and 65%+/-3% - or are your humidors more stable than that? And at what temperature do you hold these?

I've had no probs with Boli's at 68%(+/-3%)

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

My hygrometers are rated at +/- 2% and my wineadors are 18 Celsius.

you could try dry boxing a boli for 24hrs before you smoke? see if that makes a difference?

I did read that nc & cc should be stored at differing rh but i have never had a problem, saying that im at 65 so middle ground seems good for me at least

          Maybe Bolivars don't like Australia.

It’s all the same tobacco so it’s hard to understand why this would happen.

Do you just have one batch of bolis...it could be just a badly rolled box.

It does happen. That the only thing I could think of

Currently, I have Bolivar RC, PC, BBF and CJ.

Those that I’ve consumed haven’t been complete duds, but generally and as a group the Bolivars seem to be the most moist / less willing to burn / least productive regarding smoke.
