    But I agree nonetheless. But what if they are kept/aged/whatever before boxing?

    Oh and how long before a boxed cigar ends up under your lighter. I'll wager a bit longer than a year!...

      Fair comment, as box date is the only date that a purchaser could ever know I would always go from that. Having said that, I have had plenty of cigars that were 2-5 months from boxing that were fine and plenty that were years old and full of horrible-ness. The one that springs most to mind was an RyJ Churchill Tubo that I rested for about 18months from purchase (don't know box code) that was amazing until the final 3rd when it was one big mouthful of ammonia!
