Word of caution, however. Go during the day and travel in a pack. It's a pretty lively town, but gets really wild when the sun goes down.

So, if you decide to go, you can either take the trolly to the border (very convenient) or drive down, park in the US side, walk across the border and catch a cab to your destination. The LCdH is on Av. Revolucion. Usual LCdH prices. You might even want to pick up Mexico's New Reginal Puro - Edmundo Dantes Conde Belicoso!

The Edmundo Dantes Conde Belicoso, the new addition to Mexico's Regional Editions, has arrived in the country's Casas del Habano retail shops. The fat belicoso, 5 1/2 inches by 54 ring gauge, has a rich, dark, reddish-brown wrapper, and is being sold in boxes of 10. The 2016 Regional Edition Exclusivo Mexico sells for 5,500 pesos per box—about $266.45, or $26.65 per cigar. | Cigar Aficionado

    Have fun!

I would love to get to TJ one day. Sadly I'll be at Comic-Con every day working my ass off.

I've heard that it's pretty wild in TJ in the night. A friend of mine had bad luck finding a hotel during Comic-Con a few years ago and ended up in a cheap one right next to the border. He couldn't sleep on Friday and Saturday night because Mariachis played music all night long and there were quite a few gunshots as well. You Mexicans seem to know how to party....

A friend of mine sent me a single of the Edmundo Dantes. I would love to get a few more.

Buying old comics and some newer stuff for the store. I work in the biggest comic book store in France where I manage the english language section and travel twice a year to the US to buy stuff there. It's fun but I hate those long flights.

That would be great. I like herfing! You would need to make reservations for a room a long time ahead though. It's hell getting a hotel room.

As for dinner, I like steak!

Tell me about it...I was there in May staying at the Gaslamp Plaza Suites on E Street in the heart of the Gaslamp district and a short walk to the convention center. I was on a timeshare trade waiting list for a few months and was lucky go get a room. But it was a sweet location! Next time I'll put in a request much sooner.

It isn't easy. I'm going through a friend of mine and he puts in his Hotel requests every year in January. He has to give them a list of five hotels, but we always get the Hyatt (which is the one we want).

The Hyatt! I LOVE that hotel (and so does don TJ)...right on the water front! I've stayed there a few times myself when I used to work for a living.

I'm even bringing two of my cherished du Gourmets for a couple of friends..... ).
Let's hope that they'll bring something good as well.

I know this was posted a while ago, but those cigars look incredible. Is it the age on them that gives the wrappers that enticing sheen?

I buy a lot from a store here in France and another in Germany and they let me open quite a few boxes when I'm there. I always try to pick the nicest cigars available.

When I buy from an online vendor some cigars are not as nice looking, but then again they are a little cheaper.
