Well said, se?or. Many of us can only DREAM of the day we have a collection so large it's easy to store away boxes untouched/unopened.

There's a logic to it, but can one really remember what a particular cigar tasted like, say, five years earlier?

Sure, if you keep notes. Below are two links. The first is a simplistic guide for rating cigars. The second is a more detailed article on how we disginguish flavors.

Like a fine wine, single malt scotch or a historic work of art, a hand-rolled cigar--formulated, produced, grown, and created by a master--is one of the finest things in life. What makes a cigar good or even great? Here are the steps to...

well said... I happen to like the smoothness that comes from a little age... and it can be a modest term. I recall the first HUHC i sampled - it was (to me) bordering upon revolting. I had a 5 pack (since bought a box!) and really wondered hard about the wisdom of the purchase. A little under a year in the humi and they flipped into something really rather joyous. Every chance that mood and circumstance contributed too, but the taste was palpably altered through the passage of time.

I tend to leave the 'bigger' flavoured sticks longer... as I beleive (possibly wrongly) they have more capacity for aging given the bolder taste profile. That said, I had some custom rolled Davidoffs that were c20 years old when I smoked them and they were astouding. Th NC's dont get much rep for aging but these were magical as fresh rolls (a very differnt experience smoking them utterly green) and then again as relative pensioners!!!
And aging singles is fine too... I have a cluster of COTM and others that sit in a specific humi... every now and then I dip in and try one. Some have been there nearly 2 years without tryng!

Acquiring faster than consuming is the trick!! but thats when CAD kicks in!!!

Tote that barge, lift that bail

It's no secrete that some of us lack the capacity to store full boxes for years, let alone DECADES! (Sad) So, in the opinion of this humble mexicant, the "single-stick aging method" is a perfect way for us Working Class Heros to build up a fine collection of aged puros.

That's where keeping a diary of every smoke (or every interesting smoke if you'd rather) come in to it's own. I have have recorded every cigar I have smoked since 2004, a score & a few tips written down can amazingly help you to recall the whole experience.
