  • Thoughts on the ?A?ejados? lines..?

I?ve been playing catch-up with some of Habanos more recent releases, but have yet to try any of the new A?ejados range.
(i.e. The Montecristo Churchill, Romeo y Julieta Piramedes, Hoyo de Monterrey Hermoso No.4 and the Partagas Coronas Gordas).

As I understand it, these cigars are an attempt by Habanos to provide 'pre-aged' stock to the market, thereby allowing enthusiasts to experience the ?mellower and more refined flavour profiles? of box aged cigars, but without the need for buyers to ?home? age themselves.

In theory, it sounds a great idea.. but I?m curious to hear the experiences of fellow BOTL who've tried them.. especially those who traditionally age their own stock.

Are they worthy of the price premium..a marketing gimmick.. or somewhere in-between..?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
    Cheers
    El Cat

I have only had the RYJ and thought it was fab...

On the rest of the lines, not sure!

And in terms of build and process etc, I don't know enough to comment!

I also bought mine in Cuba so didn't really feel the premium to much!

Will be interested in what others have to say!

I have not tried any so I will also be interested in the replies from anyone who has smoked them.

I've tried the HdM & the Partagas.
I must say that the HdM didn't do anything for me, very bland & pretty much tasteless!
On the other hand, the Partagas was very nice, a few little hints of flavour are there, Leather, Wood, a bit of dried fruit & a small faint taste of tea!
I will endeavour to try the other brands, so I can make more of a rounded judgement on them.

That's what I read about them. The HdM is a definite no for me and I just received a single Partagas that will be smoked after a few weeks rest. Looking forward to it.

Can't remember which one I had El Cat but it was one of those first two that appeared. I enjoyed mine but the vote was across the scale even at that point with them.

It's weird, why would their be such mixed reviews about something that in theory should be great? Seems like Habanos have a lot of work to do to get their heads around ageing as we know it. If say they held back a party d4 or RASS for x years people would be all over it, it just doesn't make sense?

Neither do people and we all have different tastes

I'm not convinced by the Anejados line. Can't make my mind up whether it is a ploy by Habanos to try and get more than top $ for another line or whether they are genuinely doing their customers a favour by offering them the opportunity to try a cigar with a few years age on it. I've tried them and wasn't overly impressed, they weren't bad by any means but just not what I was hoping for. Would be more likely to spend the money on a regular production cigar with a few years on it.

Some interesting responses (thanks guys), and so far, a pretty mixed bag of opinion.

I guess as a Partagas fan I should give the Coronas Gordas a try first.
I had intended on picking one up when I was in London earlier this week, but it slipped my mind.. However, I see that they’re available through CGars so I’ll try there and report back.

Anyone else got round to the Monte or Hoyo yet..?

They are improving so much in the humidor during 6 months that really makes me wonder how much a?ejamiento do they really have. They lack of much more subtle and rich flavour for the price. Improving though

The RYJ Anejados was simply stunning. One of my all time favourite cigars.
However, I hate all other ryj, so this seems odd!

That's interesting groundhog, I was thinking of trying these, what flavour profile would you put on them?

According to a seller, his honest opinion was that they weren't good enough to demand their price tag.
