Interesting topic this one, glad to see some varied opinions; who knows what'll happen but one things for sure, Cuba will still in the long run make the best... we hope

It's a very interesting topic indeed, and has given rise to some good discussions on these forums with various members past and present. As I understand there are good stocks of Cuban cigars both in Cuba and held by various importers, so hopefully the shock of any change in the US-Cuba trade situation should be softened slightly. Lots of variables though, but I think there are some very strong NC brands which have built up loyal followings in the States, so doubt it will be a catastrophically mass shift to Cubans.

I also think sheppsea draws attention to a valid point, which is looking at the influence which Imperial Tobacco will have through their various holdings around the globe - it should certainly help to reduce the number of lengthy legal cases. Where there are conflicts I doubt they'll resolve easily - much as many Republicans are doubtless keen to find a slightly simpler source for their Cubans they'll have to be seen to remain anti-Cuban in defiance of any trade barriers being lifted.

I think there may be some interesting debates about the 'legal' nationalisation of family owned companies following an armed revolution...
