I take your point Sean and totally agree. @CJ have tried both now and they smoke just fine . Thanks for the info re the bar code.

No it's not normal. The warranty seal is glued in Cuba, not by the "uppliers". The supplier who check the content must break all seals.
That said there is no reason to worry here. We have seen many legit boxes with much more worrying issues.

Pretty much what I was thinking, but they're in the humidor now and smoking very nicely so I guess we'll never know.

Oh lord! I haven't been on that site in a while...

I stopped worrying too much about that and just started to checking my sources. When the site started to gave inconclusive results, I stopped using it entirely. It gave me unnecessary hassle when you're paying hundreds of dollars/quid for a few boxes of dried leaves.

Pretty much where I'm at, it still bothers me a little that the warranty seals were intact but the supplier checks out ok and the sticks smoke just fine so as far as I'm concerned it's a done deal.

                  why is that?
it's relatively common. more so than a missing box code, but still pretty common.

Just seems strange. Some folks seem to think it's fine and others don't. I really don't know what to think so have stopped thinking

Wise move. Stop thinking, open up the box and start dreaming!

Have you any examples of how results were inconclusive Butters? I've had plenty of "Oops, we're too busy" type messages, but numbers I've put through have always come up OK. It'd be interesting to hear about your experiences

I rarely get regionals to show up as conclusive. These were for the first few boxes of Canadian REs that I've had.
Also, boxes from those botique brands like the ones Simon are saying are being discontinued used to rarely show up for me as well. Ah well.

Decided to dig through one of my humidors to see if this is true. Looks like I've been a messy/ naughty boy and never opened up one of my boxes. Uh-oh.

                            They're both LUB NOV 13.

Took both of these codes over to http://habanos.com/Sellos/Info/VerificaSelloCajon . And guess what I found!

                            The unopened box yields:
The product is original from Habanos S.A.

                            HSA: 10.7148.11.0190

                            Descripcion: H.UPMANN HALF CORONA CB-UW-C/L-12,13-n-25
                            While the opened box yields:
The product is original from Habanos S.A.

                            HSA: 10.8104.11.0047

Descripcion: H.UPMANN ROYAL ROBUSTO (CDH) CB-UW-n-10-n-10
Just goes to show you how things are... A few years back, I probably would've been freaking out about how the Royal Robusto box had a Half Corona box stamp. Ah well...
