  • Sid Caesar's estate sale in Hollywood...some stunning pre-embargo rarities!

Stumbled upon this in the US. There's about 50 boxes in total. Beautiful

The STACK of Dunhills alone would probably fetch ?5000 per box at Mitch's auction. What a monster collection

Tempted to place a bid but could you imagine what HMRC would have to say about importing 30-40 boxes of stogies

Some amazing stuff there, if only that ?90+million lottery win had been mine. Would've taken the lot of you to Cuba too.

Toooooo much, it's all shite! Read this & then bid if you really fancy a pig in a poke!

                  Hi Simon,

Thank you for your interest in our upcoming auction. Please see below for lot 470 breakdown and condition issues.

                  Lot 470:
A box of Romeo y julieta No. 2 has all 25 in there.
2 Dunhill Monte Cristo No. 1 25 sealed, 1 unsealed with all 25
A Monte Cristo No. 4 missing 5 should have 25, but there are 20 in there.
A Monte Cristo No 2 all in 25 are in there.
A box of Sherman's Havana from Nat Sherman Co. Tobacconists all are in there- 50 total
A Romeo y Julieta box is sealed, has 25 in there.

Please note that these cigars were not kept in a humidor for the past couple of years, so there is extensive damage to them. This includes beetle holes, severe dehydration, molding, and other condition problems. I have attached some additional photos for lot 470

                  Sincerely,

                  Isabel Yeo

Yeah & nothing mention of the Auction site itself to suggest they weren't smokable or damaged in anyway. I was a little hasty & put a bid on lot 470 but having lost my credit card & cancelled it & told them to withdraw me from the auction. So far they have lowered my bid to $50 above the previous bidder & haven't replied to my letter of cancellation. I also seem to have changed my details on the profile page so good luck with trying to get one measly $ out of me!

Even though the message they sent you was extremely clear, it still seems quite dishonest of them to not give that information on the site itself.

probably why the price was so low

Not low enough for the condition I would say but yes in good condition the estimates would have been higher. The auction is underway & it's showing as $600 for Lot 470 so hopefully some other sucker will be getting them. Hope they are genuine Sid fans as there's no other reason to want them.
