  • Huge breaking news - Cuba dropped from list of terrorist states by U.S.

The United States has removed Cuba from its list of state sponsors of terror, allowing the country to conduct banking in the United States, among other activities.

It's happening. Note this does not yet lift the embargo.

As expected, the embargo should be ending soon... Unless whomever is President after Obama changes the gameplan.

Good news! It was politics only to put Cuba on this list.
      Three Laws are:
      1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
      2. A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
      3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I wonder if this means that stocks of NC's will run dry once the Cubans realise they have been smoking crap all these years and they buy up more NC's than can be produced?

Well yes it was politics, but probably for some good reasons, e.g. Cuba backing FARC in Colombia, invading Venezuela etc etc

If we applied the same rules to UK, US, Russia then Cuba is like a saint .

Just a thought, but can the Cuban cigar industry cope with the lifting of the embargo? Will quality suffer?

Will the pre-lifting of the embargo cigars become sought after just as the pre-embargo ones did?

                Any opinions?

Met a guy from Texas in Robert Graham in Edinburgh last week and asked him about this. He didn't seem to think the general American cigar fan would pay the price for a Cuban. Clearly those that are smoking them at the moment will continue to do so but he felt it was unlikely to have a profound effect on the NC market in the U.S.

Makes sense.... The diversity and range of NC's out there seems to eclipse the western europe market, where the heritage of cubans seems to hold cache, and hold price up over here.
