Well, that's it then. I'm going to de-band all my cigars, colour sort them and see what kind of boxes I can fit them in. I'm giving myself six days to do it too But seriously, the guy must have seen something and got the wrong end of the stick (boom, boom) perhaps. Or did he...

Or is it just non-Cuban propaganda?

Haha, well, as long as more of that keeps getting pumped to the americans, there's gonna be enough Cubans for me for years to come.

Hm... No blender? Cigars are sorted to brands after production? How could there be any consistency in a brand?

He sounds sincere enough to make me believe that he thinks he is right. But it goes against anything I experienced so far.

That a Cuban is not that great when fresh is no secret. And there are great non Cubans as well. But his verdict sounds like he is stuck in the all American phantasy that of course Americans smoke the best cigars in the world. Lol...

Just read a bit in the other reports of his trip. The only positive thing he has to say is about a farm that also produces NC which he sells in his shop. I call Be.

Agreed with that. Hard to get Cuban cigars? Let's make people not want them, and get the people to buy our cigars instead.

If you read the other days he writes about, he keeps being surprised that people do not want to leave Cuba when he asks them. I mean come on... how much or an arrogant and ignorant stereotype can one person be?

Is there anybody on this forum that has actual knowledge of Cuban production that can tell us what's real and what's BS about that article?

I may be missing something (I haven't read the article yet) but how can a farm produce CCs and NCs?

It is true that in one factory multiple brands are made, but each has different tobacco and blend. They just switch between them, it depends on market demands, tobacco available, bands and box etc. Only thing what is sorted after making is color - to match same color in one box, they have like 8 types of color that all seems same to me.

I think Niela was referring to a different article by the same author Shepp

Correct. I think it was day 3. The owner of the plantation, Hirochi Robaina also produces cigars with NC tobacco and they are sold in his shop. Not sure where they are produced though. You can read here :

Thank for the clarification, I misunderstood and thought the tobacco was grown on the farm he visited
