On the expensive size, and I've never tried what about Behike? Everyone raves about them, but is it just for the name?

I can't speak for the other sizes but I have found the BHK52 to be a delightful smoke and it starts surprisingly mild and just builds and builds. The ones I have smoked have been very consistent in quality and flavour.
What do we mean by essential? Is it just a list of cigars we like or a list of CCs every cigar enthusiast would have tried (effectively 'the classics')
While all the cigars listed are great smokes I wouldn't necessarily consider them essential Cubans - these to me would be things like the Monte 4, Monte 2, RyJ Churchill, PSD4 etc.
I really like the HdM Petit Robusto but am not sure I would call it essential
Also - The first three you mention are best with age on them.
So if you do sample one, but don't like it, it could be because it's still very young.
Just food for thought
Great thread!! I'm a long way off getting all those, trying to decide on a couple for Monday, going to make a purchase, still going in circles as to what!

Your first 2 box purchases were heavy weight stuff. The big famous ones. I would recommend trying a some smaller stuff you can maybe buy more than one box of at that size compared to a single box of the big guys you got for the same price so you have a selection.
Bolivar Coronas Junior was my first box purchase and I was very very happy with it. If you could squeeze to a box of H. Upman Half Corona (HUHC) at the same time you would be off to a fantastic start....
