  • Cubans that you DON'T like?

As the title says, is there any Cuban brand that you just don't like?

This is controversial, but for me it is Cohiba. I have only tried the bottom of the range and the cigarillos, but I just didn't enjoy them. This was quite early on in my cigar smoking days though so my pallette might have changed and developed now.

I am tempted to try one of the Siglos and see how that compares. Obviously heard excellent things about the Behike's, but they are out of my price range unfortunately.

I'm not too keen on Juan Lopez and also don't particularly mourn the decline of Diplomaticos

Regarding Cohiba; I wasn't sure whether they were worth the extra cost at first but they have really grown on me as time has gone by

As a newbie, I would have to go obvious and say Guantanamera Cristales.

If I wanted a cigar that tasted like a cigarette, I would have a Hamlet!

Could be wrong on this parnaby but small cuban cigars like you mentioned haven't got the same complexity
as your bigger guage cigars like say a 42 and upwards this is just my opinion on this
        others might agree or disagree.

I've seen them (Guantanamera Cristales) crop up on here, but never seen one of them and will now avoid them.
My first Cuban that I bought, because they were cheap, was a 5 pack of Jose L Piedra. I didn't think they were too bad at the time, I tried the left over one a couple of months later after getting more experienced and it was god awful. Not sure if that was my palette getting more experienced or because they hadn't been looked after.

The reason could well be a bit of both. If you smoke great quality cigars then a crap one I can imagine pallets change. Also, by looking after your cigars you can ensure better quality smoking.

Plus, a big Cuba Libre helps!!

Looking after your cigars is a big factor on how they smoke.

You're not alone in the Cohiba thing, groundhog has no love for them either despite being send long aged versions of both the CoRo and the SigloVI. Me I love nothing more than a well aged SigloVI and a big glass of cognac.
If I had to give a brand I don't like I'd struggle although I've not got much from Fonseca but only tried one so that's not very scientific.
My problem here is that cigars being organic are subject to a lot of variation within a brand and line. A cigar can be great one day and shite the next, that can be the lack of consistency or it can be your palette or even just your mood. What you eat counts, have you brushed your teeth recently etc etc etc.
Id never write any of them off as u smokable.

Never really considered that to be honest.
I will definitely give Cohiba another chance, I just need to get through some of my new purchases first. Can get some Siglo II's for very reasonable price here so maybe pick up a couple of them.

As Shepsea so wisely said Cohibas will grow on you in time. No need to rush it, just try one or two a year & smoke a variety of Havana in between. I like toguesstimate the avge Cohibas is 10-20% 'better' than other Habanos but 30-450% more expensive. It's up to you if you want to explore this path or you consider your annual cigar bill is more than enough already! I like to keep them for red letter days, then the fflag profile & cost fit right in
My Cubans for Room 101 (where Mr Orwell put Winston & the rat, wonder how many youngsters who watch Mr Skinner's show even knows where it comes from?), would be Fonsecas, yepbtried them all but never found one worth buying twice & Guantanamaria. These were the worst marketing desicion of Habanos, just when they were trying to tell everyone all their products were handrolled, long filler. And no i haven't tried them all, the one was enough for me!!!!

Wow, really? There's still a lot out there for me to try, but so far Trinidad's are my favourite. Each to their own I guess.
