Hurumph-Hurumph! This was a promising thread, what with all the interesting puros that some don't care for, but it's gone astray (as per usual) with all the wacky comments and defense of one's preferred stick.

Having said that - first let me just say that it's not uncommon for a not care for the Cohiba line - partly due to the high price and the need for an well-aged one - but as one gets more knowledgeable and comfortable with the price of top-shelf puros, most begin to cum around.

As for what puros I don't particularly enjoy, why that would be the Juan Lopez line. I know it's a vastly popular puro in this neck of the woods, but I just can't seem to find one that I get on with.

But that's just me, no doubt!

I think that someone touched on it earlier that you can't really compare mini's & clubs to 'normal' cigars.
Normal as in the slighter higher ring gauge, my experience was started on the mini's etc. If I have one now, I find them quite bitter & harsh.
I think as your cigar experience grows & your palate adapts, you will appreciate the nuances that cigars have.
Touching on the Cohiba theme, I've found that age makes a huge difference to them, you're talking perhaps a minimum of 3 yrs at least to get that smooth creaminess instead of a harsh peppery taste.

I'm not mad on new ones, ie any that haven't been aged for a minimum of 3 -5 years.
I find them rougher and lacking subtlety.

The best Cuban cigars I have ever smoked have been aged for a minimum of 10 years by someone who knows how to keep cigars.

.... or doesn't know how to keep his own cigars?
If you want to, you can.

I like most cigars from most of the brands but I'm not a fan of Hoyo de Monterrey (apart from the DC). I've tried them all expect a couple from the 'Le Hoyo' range but they're not for me....

Fonseca don't do much for me (The French RE is good though)

Hey Stevie, one of the best Cuban's I ever smokes was a HDM Epicure No 1 from a cabinet at JJ Fox, some 15 years old I sat upstairs and smoked it and the aroma was overwhelming, just a stunning cigar.
