OK well the box looks pretty good but as said I have never seen such poor bands on genuine product.
Still back on topic. Slowly rehydrate (3-6 months) and then fire one up and see how they smoke.Originally posted by Simon BolivarLittle medical correction there Steve, you will surely die...but not from smoking these

What an interesting thread and respect to you for posting your other pics up. As you say, there should be three rows of dots and the embossing is quite flat in your example in the close up picture. Heres a close up of a recent Siglo II that I had and you can see that the embossing is very pronounced and quite rounded at the edges, not just raised.

As a lot of people have said there is a question over the band quality on the Cohiba's. I notices the writing of habana to low down on the band which leads to me to think they were the same as the first box of cigars I bought, esplendido's with 24 and not 25. Shop swore that the manager smoked one.
We have all bought some suspect packages over the year, it shows we are human, but as Peejay mentioned. Smoke them and see. That is where the test is.
In relation to the original point, if they were stored at 58 humidity for a while, it's not a hanging offence. I prefer to store at 60 - 65 rather that 70.
Spark one up and tell us hoŵ they are, btw the montes look cracking.

I think the hygrometer on the humidor may be slightly out as I've had the electronic one going for a few days now at 70% and it has settled down from the fan going every few minutes for the first few days so the humidor is probably not sucking in any of the moisture now.
With the cigar Oasis set to 70% the hygrometer is reading about 75% so think they may have been stored at around 53% for a year or two.
I'll drop it down to 65% for a few months and see how they go.
I've smoked about 3 of the montes and 10 of the Cohibas back in 2008/2009 and they were fine back then.

Just tried one of the Cohibas and it was a very mellow flavour with not a lot of taste, not very good at descriptions but it was quite peppery and reminded me of the taste and tingling you get in your mouth when eating water cress. The first half was very mild with the strength and pepperiness increasing after the first half. Lost the ash about half way through but was smoking it outside.
Not unpleasant but definitely not the same flavour from 6 years ago, seems to have lost some of the bitterness or kick that I liked. Also burned very quickly and was just under 30 mins start to finish but I guess the fast burn is down to it being very dry.
