Got a box of trinnie recently. Top 2 layers were fantastic. Pale wrapper. Not as good after that and much darker wrapper. Familiar story or just reading too much into it?

Sounds like you're talking about a box of Reyes, no? Anyway, it's normal for the top layers to be somewhat lighter than the lower (or visa versa) since the wrapper shade is taken into consideration when packing. But I've never had a box of Reyes that were distinctively different between layers. I reckon it's possible, however.

No the colonials. You pointed out to me before how the cigars are packed with like shades next to each other. I have checked since and see what you mean in other boxes.

I think the layers in a box (cab?) of colonials allow them to skip a couple of hues though. It was the noticeable change in flavour I was asking if anyone else had noticed?

I'd say the latter. Trinidad has significantly better quality control than other marcas as they're all (reportedly) rolled in the Vegueros factory.

I've seen some really dark Reyes that have tasted like a regular Reyes to me. Trinidad is a good Marca that I may just follow blindly because I can.

As I understood it, all cigars are colour sorted before they are put in boxes and the shade should be common across the box layers although the best cigars should be on the top for presentation.

However, being Cuba, it's always possible you got a Friday/end of day box. However lack of colour and quality consistency makes me wonder about the provenance. I'm assuming these came from a reputable source?

I am doing my usual naff job of explaining myself. Row to row they are close enough in color to not be noticeable against each other. The top row all looked the same color as each other. It just from second row down they are darker than what the top rows were. Still not making sense, wish I`d taken pictures

It makes perfect sense if you realise that workers are employed solely to match the various colour variations of wrapper and ensure the best presentation in each box layer.
