  • Recommend me my next Cubans

    Hi All,

I like to have variety in the humidor and I like looking forward to Cuban cigars Ive not tried before. Current favourite is the Hoyo de Monterrey range though more recently have been enjoying fuller flavours- I thought Trinidad Reyes was nice and enjoyed my first Cohiba Siglo at the weekend. Not a fan of R y J and thought that the Punch Coronation was mediocre. Can you recommend my next Cuban to look out for? Im not a fan of full strength.. Bolivar is too much for me. I like Upmanns too.
    Thanks in advance!

      Maybe give a Behike 52 a chance?

      Or a Montecristo No.2

Hello Joss. If you like the hoyo's then it seems likely that Cohiba would be good fit. Milder than some of the others but full of flavour.
Have you tried the HdM short Piramides LE? Lovely and for a cheap Tubos the HdM Coronations are quite decent and very cheap.
Trinidad are a conundrum, they have made some amazing smokes including one of my favourite but have deleted all of the lines I loved. If you can get a box you might like the Trinidad Robusto or Robustos Extra.
Do you not smoke Non Cuban cigars? The American Puro (by James Garcia I think) is a lovely cigar and not only looks but smokes like an HdM Epi 2.
        Hope some of that helps.

          Hoyo:
          Epicure 2
          Du Maire
          Petit Robusto

          Upmann;
          Mag 46
          Sir Winston
          No 2

I feel the above covers many smoking situations.

If you want to stray from those brands then.

            Diplomaticos No2
            Por Larranaga Petit Corona
Ramon Allones Small Club Corona and Specially Sellected
Saint Louis Rey Petit Corona and Regios
            Vegas Robaina Clasicos

Are all ones that I would personally look out for.

Easy smoking and not too expensive is a Juan Lopez Petit Corona.

I'm surprised that no one suggested El Rey del Mundo Choix Supremes which are also good cigars for the new smoker

Because Joss expressed an interest in Medium to Fuller flavours.

Do you not class the Epi 2 and SLR Regios in the same bracket as the Choix Supreme? They appear that way to me.

Interesting you think that PeeJay, I find ERDM to be by far the mildest brand out there.

I agree Dave but I also find the other two mild as well, and mild is good in my book.

Hmm I have a Regios left, I may just spark it up. I've always found them to be flavour powerhouses.

The older Lonsdales I split with Martyn were much milder though.

I wonder if that was the Lonsdale Martyn gave me earlier in the year, it was superb and definitely in my favoured range.
