What are your thoughts on these cigars?

Reason I ask is that I keep seeing the Gold Medals and Serie d'Oro No. 1s everywhere nowadays. Is the gold medal REALLY better than the churchill? Is the SdO N1 REALLY better than the SdO No. 2 LE2013? I mean the churchill and LE13 is half the price of both of those cigars...

What are your thoughts on these two cigars? Overpriced and hyped? Overpriced and worth it? Priced just right and worth it?

If I had the money, I'd line up the door of my wineador with Punch and Bolivar Gold Medals for the hell of it. Or maybe some of those Punch Platinos India RE. They're sure pretty...

Maybe I'll just buy one or three to hang in the humidor come Christmas time.

The fact that they are still very easy to get hold of should answer your own question

yeaaaaaah... I can't find the La Gloria Cubana or Por Larranaga regionals on any public sales nowadays.

I don't know. Perhaps someone here has had some good luck with them but just find them to be too expensive to be worth the buy. I see them lying around for 14 quid each so I guess the punt isn't THAT bad.

Which ones do you find for ?14? As far as I know the Medalla D'Oro is around ?25 a go (this the is only UK RE which holds no appeal to me!) and the Serie D'Oro No. 1 is around ?20

I think you can pick up both the Magnificos and the LGC you mention from the LCDH, but be prepared to pay a lot for them

Hava Havana is a specialist cigar store in London, home to rare and vintage cigars. We also stock cuban cigars, accessories, humidors plus chocolates & gifts. The latest cigar to come out is the La Gloria Cubana Británicas UK Regional 2017.

I have tried the Magnificos which is was a great smoke (but too expensive to buy any more of), but I haven't tried the LGC yet, maybe I will suggest it as a Christmas present

The Series d'Oro is 14 quid. 140 for the box on my end. Honestly, that's not much more than the Punch Descombs Portugal. Seems worth the punt?

The LGC Gloriosos are waaaaay too good. I may just justify the purchase one day. Even for 35 quid.

Ajay does have the ERdM Piramide for a good price. The Italian regional is a superb cigar. Maybe worth the ?20. Definitely worth trying.

The Magnificos is an absolutely phenomenal cigar which makes me want to try the Por Larranga Magnums. I'm even contemplating the 65 quid price tag once my source dries up.

I wasn't suggesting you should get me the cigar Jeremy, it was just a comment as Christmas is approaching

UK prices are UK prices and I'm afraid there's no oddsing that.

Medalla D'Oro 2011 .... blinged-up, endlessly one dimensional and probably going nowhere.

                    Serie D'Oro No. 1 2008 .... a good cigar IMO.

LGC Gloriosos .... worried me when I got them, been a bit of a 'sleeper' .... but I think now will live up to their name and brand heritage .... hopefully!
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

I don't think the word "better" is easily applied here, especially as cigar preference is so subjective. I've seen you writing about this before and I think you're looking at it in a bit if a polar way. If we followed this religiously we would all pick the "best" example of each vitola and nothing else. That makes for a truly boring life. I'd personally like a box of GM.

'Nicht verfugbar' in Europe, well with all the genuine vendors anyway. Here in the UK Mitch has some 07s for ?200 and Cigars Unlimited will sell you a box for ?149.

But going by Butter's intel, Canada is chocka block with Boli GMs, so no pending shortage to worry about!

I was just hoping to spark discussion on the two Punch REs being discussed.
You're right. In the end, only I can say for myself. But I sure as hell enjoy discussing it

Nope! All my Bolivar Gold Medals come from Europe!!
Fuelling the EU. One cigar at a time.

Even if they arrive on this side of the world, they would be way too expensive to justify even a single purchase.

Those are Punch Gold Medals - the D'oro No. 1s are just regular piramides...

Also, if you're interested, take a google for: Punch Platinos RE India
