Although I prefer to smoke in the cafe during the winter, I do of course occasionally smoke when fishing. This is really the perfect time as when bait fishing, I am sat for long periods waiting for a run. I am very warmly dressed (far more layers than you are likely to put on for a 45min smoke) outside & no on else around to complain. As long as it's dry & not more than a breeze I'll give it ago. My observation is that he cold temps reduce the flavour & that is surely a problem. So I favour med-full strength cigars for this purpose, Cazadore would be ideal but I need a couple of beers with that I & have to drive home. Party Short does just fine.Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.

Indeed, here's a pic of a Piker on a Carp water. It's closed to carping from mid Nov & then I am the only paying pike on the water until end of March. If it gets too bad I can retreat to the little hut behind but usually I like to be by the rods. Second pic: don't know about 45mins for a cigar to relax it takes me 45mins to recover having pushed this lot around the pit, to the very swim mid distant from the carpark. But that's what hobbies all about -R&RSimon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.

The lake is in Antwerp, couldn't give he exact location away of course, know what you carp boys are like! Here's a few pics for the water from different angles & season. The carp go to 50lb+ I once spoke to a chap in the morning who had 40lb'ers x2 & a 39lb'er in a single night. The piking is somewhat harder. I caught my first 20lb'er there on my 3rd visit, after trying to catch one for over 20yrs on many waters. Thought I had cracked it, over the next 6yrs I only had 2 low dbles.
The lake can look beautiful but is plagued with dog walkers throwing balls & sticks in to your swim even if your the only fisherman there! Also loads of litter, which I try to pick up but next time I go back it's just as bad. And that a private club but unfortunately has public access.Attached Files- E10.2008.07.10_1021.jpg (114.4 KB, 19 views)

Sorry to usurp the Forum Belgium Fishing Thread Simon.
Southend humidity this morning is 87%, predicted to drop to 73% around between 12 - 17.00 hrs. Temperature 11? so should be OK for a smoke this afternoon .... but only if it stops bleedin' raining! If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!
