Your Thoughts on this matter is it wise when having different brands of cuban cigars in the same humidor to keep them seperate by using dividers
reading a back issue of cigar aficionado thats what this smoker was saying.
For example keep the following cigars separate monti ..romeo..bolivar...hoyo
because they are made up of different blends and if they all mingle together the different oils from different cigars kind of spoil the flavour
of that particular cigar mentioned above to me it makes a lot of sence.

I have read this myself but cubans i dont separate from each other but i do try to keep maduros away from each other just incase they have been dyed and the oil comes off onto other sticks

When I started this interest I always planned to keep my cigars in their original boxes for this reason. It makes sense to separate them to keep the integrity of the rollers chosen blend and so forth. I now find that this isn't a very space efficient way of working and have had to rethink. Currently I keep almost everything in the boxes they came in but my plan going forward is to make a humi with a large layer made up of cab shaped sections to empty the cigars in to. In this way I hope to keep things organised, separate the cigars but still get that fabulous rich smell of thirty different cigars in one humi when I open it. I'll have a singles tray on the top of that layer for odd sticks that have survived alone. The plan is to make it like a low profile trunk to fit under the bed. When the top is down the different sections will be sealed off from each other. The only thing I'm yet to decide is if I need to have a hydrometer in each section as well as Boveda's or if I vent the dividing walls and trays and have one digital humidifier.

if its vented then no point in sealing the sections.

I'm going to say no and also if you've only ever smoked from a box try sticking a single in your desktop for a couple of months then smoking it alongside one straight out the box and see how you feel then!

Joey my question was what i read in the cigar aficionado magazine, saying it's best to keep different branded cuban cigars separated
from each other by dividers rather than mixed in all together.
If kept together all the oils and smells from different cigars mixing together will spoil the smoke such as complexity etc
i'm no expert by any means but to me it makes a lot of sence.

I'm thinking for it to have an effect, the sticks would have to be 'mixed' for some time. I.e, if you were ageing them considerably…

I personaly think keep them separated as soon as you put them in the humidor smell the cigars i bet they all smell different from one brand to another
which means different blends, like yourself si you like your behike cigars bet they smell different to say a d4 and taste different
so why keep the two next to each other and spoil the taste of the behike cigars.
As you know oils come out of cigars why mix the two oils from different branded cigars together like the behike and the d4s
and spoil the smoking pleasures of cigars.

just proved my point si why are your behike separated from your punch cigars by dividers

Ok - but I can't separate everything in my desktop off from each other.
If I never had the wood partition I would've just let the Behikes rest against the Punch,
and not thought anything of it…

I know your collection of Partagas LE are on their own, but what about your others: are they separated, and have you noticed a change in profiles at all?

Bollox I say. I love the amazing aroma imparted by a good desktop humi. For me the benefits far outweigh any possible sharing of aroma that may happen. The vast majority of the taste once lit comes from the raw material, not the local aroma (as long as it is all Cuban puro).

I would however stay 100% away from anything that may have artificial flavour etc sharing the same humi.

Basically this but it's not going to mean a lot until you've tested it yourself whether you inteded to or not, so...
