  • Montecristo Sampler - Advice Required Please

    Aloha All

I have a Montecristo sampler from Cgars Ltd. I love the samplers they do. I must of tried nearly all of them or have the majority in the queue.

Anyhow, which order would be suggested for smoking these Montes?

    - Montecristo Petit Edmundo
    - Montecristo Joyitas
    - Montecristo Especial no 2
    - Montecristo no 5
    - Montecristo no 4
    - Montecristo no 3
    - Montecristo no 1

Thank you for any and all advice and opinions

Good shout on the cigars but try and slow down on the buying to leave money for box splits etc once you have pm

          Indeed I did!

So start with the smallest vitola and work my way up to the Monte No.2?

I am looking forward to PM's when that happens. I went completely insane and have ordered a vast quantity of cigars in the last few months although I have sampled all several times before purchasing boxes and cabinets etc. I even have an excel sheet where I keep notes on each cigar smoked, country, producer, vitola and organoleptics (taste, flavour, aroma, texture etc)...Maybe a little OTT.

Have stopped ordering to see what space I have left in my new Bari humidor. Will update all on the additions when they go in. A significant amount of ? worth of beautiful cigars I reckon....

You are right though. Box splits, bulk orders, trading etc is something I am really looking forward to. Good things come with time. Trying a new cigar is a fantastic experience and I try to do it at least a few times per week

The 1, 5, and Monte Especiales are my vote.

If you want another, the Montecristo A is probably my favourite of the whole bunch. Just no chances to smoke them anymore...

It might be worth e-mailing CGars and asking for the picking-box date codes. They should be able to supply them. With luck the 1 the 3 and the Esp2 might have a few years behind them, the remainder I'm guessing will be relatively new.

Someone has already mentioned the Monte No 2, it's almost a sacrilege not to have one .... and if you can, get yourself a Monte Tubos, IMO it's by far the best of all the Cuban tubed and a stand out Montecristo in it's own right!
If you want to, you can.

Thanks for the advice and info Tippexx. I will ask Cgars for any date information. I also have their Cohiba sampler which takes you all the way through. Will do the same for them. For the Monte Tubos, is this the one? montetubos.jpg

If so, I have smoked a couple and thoroughly enjoyed them. As you say, a real stand out compared to most tubed cigars

A Montecristo No.2 will be smoked this week...Have been saving them! I enjoyed the Monte No. 4 so much I bought a box. Great smoke

Looks to be it. It's a Coronas Grandes, only it and the Cohiba Siglo III are left in that size, the rest are sadly of the catalogue.
If you want to, you can.

                            They're essentially shorter Lonsdales.
Those will be missed, too. Along with the coronas or yesteryear.
