  • Simon Bolivar's Sept' Catch Up

So I have been even busier than usual during my last 2/52 leave. Only had a week at home due to courses & had plenty to take care of before I left. Usually I get to keep following the threads, even if I don't get time to post but this time when I got on the rig there were 6 pages of back posts for me to catch with! Never been absent for so long, hope someone missed me?

Anyway I did manage some interested cigars so here we go... R&J Cazadore 2005, after getting ashore at the end of last trip. Really excellent clean tobacco flav.SAM_5360.jpgPL Legendios from Stevieboy, was a large ring guage for a milder cigar but that didn't bother me this early in the morning but it went bitter in the last quarter which gave a poor aftertaste.SAM_5371.jpgSAM_5373.jpgWhen I got home I found the sweet corn had all the leaves turned back & the corn eaten. I assume this was the work of the pigeons? Really disappointing, will use nets next year.SAM_5380.jpgA rather special smoke after a nice meal at home, Monte Robusto 2000, the original, that has been repeated several times since but not bettered IMHO.SAM_5385.jpgSAM_5450.jpgHoyo No2 2004, still have a few od trhese & some '01 & 99.SAM_5454.jpg Went to the Tank ceremony with the RBL which marked the 70th anniversary of the relief of Antwerp by the Brits & Canadians. The last one I attended was the 50th. Guess I have been here longer than I like to remember! LGC No4 with a friend in a nursing home (but at least one he can drink & smoke in) & the photo below shows the result from my only fishing trip. a nice jack on an Ebay'd lure, caught from my boat. Went up to Holland to collect my Yamaha engine, to make it worthwhile managed a couple of hrs in the morning chucking lures. Same spot that I caught the big one from in June, hope to catch more in Oct after some pre-baiting.

And more photos: Back up in Aberdeen again for a two day course, lovely sunny weather & I sparked this one up, Party Salomones, hmmm, great cigar when you have a couple of hrs to spare. After the course a Boli Especiales No 2 German RE. Coming back to Aberdeen for a days course before going offshore I had the 1950's cigar, it was in cello, with a cedros covering & an almost green hued wrapper. Frankly it didn't look too great but it was a rather nice surprise, as it was quite complex for a NC. Martin handed these out at the herf, thank's mate. After the course on PTW (which I used to teach on the Curlew) I had a VR Famosos & then after a decent steak, back in my smoking hotel bedroom (the only one left in Dyce?) I had my first Party PA Charlottes, it was wonderful. I did mean to smoke a CSNo3 & smoke this a day or so later to give my best judgment on whether there really is any noticable difference but as I have had one for 9 months or so, I'll just have to say I don't think there is much difference. They are both excellent smokes & when well aged hard to beat. Although I am very grateful to have been gifted this one, I don't think I 'll be paying the higher premium that these make over the No3's at auction. I didn't write my generous donor down but I think it was Monkey?

So a busy leave but with so many courses & more yet to come, I should manage to smoke a few more than average as we enter the later part of the year.

Cheers for the comments guys, appreciated. OK, the weather was dull in the Netherlands but dry so good enough for fishing. The Salomones was smoked on the Siberian bar terrace &, the Boli Especiales at the Old School House, both ABZ. The PL Steve was at O'Neil's Judd Street, by Kings Cross.
