Anyone know why some boxes have "D.O.P." following the red "HABANO" lettering on the corner sticker of CCs? Some boxes have it and some don't. Is this an indication of counterfeits?
The chevron on my newer boxes has "Denominacion de Origen Protegida" (DOP). Older boxes don't have it. The earliest I can find is a box of 2005 RyJ Petit Piramides.
Larry - I've just checked every box from 2000 to 2008 and none have the initials DOP on them....unusual but who knows with Habanos SA!?!!? Consitant they ain't!!!
No problem Larry - that's an official band, can't remember when this one is used (cuban market maybe!) but if you click on habanos sa's site on this page: http://www.habanos.com/default.aspx?lang=en and look in the bottom right corner......

I think there local to cuban because the D O P I think is something to do with the Department of Agriculture (It's also the abbreviation used for the Dominican peso I think I would check the box out also... if that's good and they smoke good...
Well that just about definitively proves the sticker is real. Nobody produces fake Piedras. I'm not saying they're bad, just who would sell fakes as Piedras when they could call them something else and charge 4 times the price.
correct ryan, to be honest, I don't smoke them... yet, I got one pack of each for aging, as a bit of a gamble, although if thats all you had, they would be smoked no probs....
