Oh and get a big mixing bowl and a shot glass/espresso cup.


Put your dry tobacco in the big bowl and make a well in the centre, half fill the shot glass with a nice but cheap spirit (rum/whisky etc.) and place it in the well.

Seal the lot with cling film and put it in an dark place. Keep checking it every few days.... It might take a week or even two but the spirit will eventually be gone and your tobacco with be quite hydrated.

Once it's like this, let it dry again slightly... Only slightly, we just don't want it "wet"

And get that stuff smoked!


P.S, this works surprisingly well with cut up cigar nubs.... If you get a mix of enough different cigars in a batch, it actually turns out fairly balanced.

Edit: obviously you cut the ash and any evidence of burn from the nub first.

I realize it may seem at times that the forum is spinning around you, but no, I heard about this practice before. But if it makes you feel better, than OK, I heard if from you.

Seriously folks, I've heard of some who smoke the puro leaf in a pipe before...long before young butters cut his nuts on this forum.

And somewhere buried in ol' don TJ's massive unit are a few sticks he picked up in Italy that are made with PIPE TOBACCO! (I'll post some pictures tomorrow if anyone is interest.

sides, it's pretty rudimentary for the BotL who get their sticks ripped apart in two to do that when they cross the American border...

It was very dry still when I smoked it in the pipe, but it has made me want to try a few proper pipe tobaccos, which is good

I'll definitely give that a go with mixing a bit of whiskey or something with the dry tobacco and see how that smokes!

Dya know I actually had that thought before. If you take one inch sections and over hydrate them I recon that be a nice easy way to fill the bowl. A never smoked a pipe but I always assumed that the pipe tobacco is very different to cigar tobacco. It certainly smells different TJ. What's the verdict, can you buy Cuban cigar tobacco in shreds for pipes?

Prob not mixing for a good result Dog. He's saying to basically have a bowl of baccy and a separate shot glass of booze all sealed in a big ziplock or Tupperware. Then over a week or whatever the vapour of the booze enters the baccy slowly. If you actually pour the brandy you might get too many of the water soluble compounds which carry lots more flavour. You might find that overpowering. I think that's what he was saying Dogidy BigDog.

And Jeremy as you will have noticed from the photo the pipe cigars come from France. Incidentally you can also get cigars rolled in the shape of pipes. They have one in the cigar shop in Brighton.
