  • Oldest date Cuban in your collection...

Mine is La Gloria Cubana Medaille D'Oro No. 3's from 2002.

I've been wondering how old a cigar can be and still maintain peak flavour, and when or if do the oils in the leaf degrade. The 12 year old sticks above are still delicious, but I have no newer ones to compare.

          You mean 2013?

On another note : mine is a Canadian rolled all Cuban tobacco stick from '22.
          Amazing.

Until yesterday it was a 98 Vegas Robaina but it's my 99 Punch Petit Punch again now.

Simon Bolivars recent 100 review of a 50's stick suggests the right stick can stay good for a long time.

                      probably in the spring.
methinks the birthday is the best option... but i already have quite a lineup for that day!

nice seeing some early 90s sticks, Martyn.
rarely see any stick with a 9 that ISN'T followed by an 8 or 9 anymore.....

i had a chance to pick up some '96s and honestly, those are the only mid-90s smokes i've ever seen in my life. and they're in my possession!

SAM_4224.jpgLarry, if you search Oldest cigar, you'll find a very similar thread, started by the ol' Butternut himself. Since then I too have) added a brace of 1920's sticks, the Antionio Blanco as mentioned by Martin, (top left hand sticks in pic) a 30's La Corona rolled in USA from imported Cuban Leaf & plenty of Pre - Rev which is the closest most Pre 1959/60 cigars can be dated to, due to no official dates on boxes & a lack of exact records when certian vitolas were discontinued. There was a massive cull post rev when many brands were discontinued, as well as lines.
Back to the question, yep cigars are smokable from the 30's, had one Christmas '12, still had a strong tobacco taste.

It must be hard to decide whether to smoke or preserve something so old
