Exactly, policing illegal drugs hasn't ever exactly been a massive success. Perhaps it's time to listen to the many credible experts that suggest legalisation and control as a way to finally break the illegal trade.

That is one of the arguments used so far. The other side of the coin is if the tax on the legal pot is astronomical then people will get it through illegal non taxed channels. I looked it up and the total tax in Colorado is about 30% after everything is said and done.

What makes me laugh is that all transactions have to be in cash because its not legal in the other states that banks and credit card companied operate in so they would be committing an offence by processing the transactions.

Actually, it's a US Federal law thingy - "According to the current rules of the major credit card processors, purchasing illegal substances (which, under federal law, marijuana still is) using their networks isn’t allowed. This means that it’s technically not permitted to use a credit or debit card to purchase marijuana, even if the bank that’s actually paying the merchant for the transaction agrees to it."
