  • Montecristo A

    Hello guys,

Had one of these sat in my humidor for 3 years now. Bought it purely out of novelty for it's size but I've been terrified to smoke it haha!

Any one had any experience with these and what ages does to it?

Quite eager to hear from anyone that's had one or two

I think Tippex aka Arf has smoked one of these or I might be confusing this with the Monty No.1.

It is a massive smoke but I'd just give it a go on a long lazy afternoon when you have plenty of time!

      Goood at any age

Just depends on how much you wanna get it down before it's all dry and spoiled.

I'm in the same boat with one sitting there looking at me, Simon from mysmokingshop smoked one in Cuba as said with the right temperature and humidity it was one of the best smokes he has ever had.

I'm waiting for a warm summer night off the back of that advice.

Montecristo A was always the 'ultimate' cigar in a world before Limited Editions and Specials. It was certainly a cigar people liked to collect and store for the longer term. During the 90's most sales were limited to singles for the special occasion. Whatever way you look at it the MCA is a true Cuban Classic
I'm sure there are greater things in life than a fine cigar ........... but right now I can't think what they might be.

I've smoked a couple of boxes of five a few years ago and I utterly loved them all. Perfect construction, perfect baccy. Reminded me a lot of the Monte PE which is no bad thing : thumb:

but if you have quite a few, get on lit on a sunny day and enjoy

Monte A now thats a cigar, if you want to know how Castro felt then smoke one, i find them best smoked really slowly, i have gone through far too many of these but they are just excellent cigars, they are good young in my experience but with about four or more years age they are special.

smoking a monte A is an experience that every cigar smoker should have!!

So here's a few pic's from the cigar library of my first experience with the Monte A.Monte.A.1.Spain2007-07-20.Cut_0060.jpg I totally agree with the warm sunny day, I smoked mine in Benidorm (not my chose of destination my the wife's sister lived up the road). Here's a shot showing the size of the A, a DC, a Churchill & a Monte No4.Monte.A.Selection.05.2007.0295.jpg I remember having my first Churchill (a tubed R&J) & wondering if I could finish it. Managed with no worries. I had a few DC's before attempting an A, the pair were sent to me from an American member of the of old site. Monte.A.5.Spain2007-07-20.50mins_0065.JPGThe A was a great smoke & lasted two hrs+.Monte.A.6.Spain2007-07-20.50mins_0067.jpg It was a wonderful if unchanging flav, went well with the San Mig & coffee & whisky to finish it off. Smoked next to the pool, where I sat admiring the ladies. I still have the other one as I have never found the perfect summer's day in Belgium, where the weather & the opportunity has co-incided but here's hoping for this summer.Monte.A.8.Spain2007-07-20.1h40_0071.jpg
Two days later I decided to try a Sanchos, big mistake. Too soon after the A & if I had smoked them the other way around, the Sanchos may have appeared in a better light but as it was it appeared bland & tastless & became bitter in the last third so I retired it early.
