  • How do they roll a Party Culebra?

For those of you have ever wondered how they achieved the snake shape, here's vid to enlighten you. I always assumed they were rolled very wet, twisted into shape & allowed to dry out. I can't watch this properly offshore, a combination of comms issues & weather problems but check it out. Initially Berta just rolls 3 sticks so if you seem that done before skip to around half way.

NB: Yes I know there other makers of Culebra but Party's are surely the most famous & the only one I've tried. And an excellent smoke it was too.

I thought I was missing something through Tapatalk when I saw it last night and decided to wait until morning to check on Safari (the video also does't seem to work on iPad in case anyone is wondering - but it works fine on my laptop)

The video is really interesting - she didn't seem to add any extra water (unless I missed that bit) - I wonder if they were rolled looser than normal?

Very interesting. Have yet to try a culebra. I was briefly tempted by the Regius culebra, but only briefly. I've added the partagas to the "must try" list.

From the one I had, it was normally filled, so I thought there were made very damp/wet but a twist is all I saw. Guess they are moist when rolled so the dry in the bundled position. I have heard her name before, I think she worked at the Party Factory?

The link comes for JJ Fox Dublin website so try there direct, if the link isn't working for you.

That's Berta Corzo in the video. Does doesn't normally roll anymore, she works in quality control in El Laguito. Really nice person.
She made the wrapper leaves for those cigars very slightly more damp than usual. Filled normally though.
Yiorgos hasn't smoked one yet as far as I know.

well that's how SOME of the sticks are rolled.
I remember a tale i heard from a mate of mine. He was there at a special rolling (not for fresh tasting) show at the factory tours. he veered off and saw a guy rolling a Monte A sized stick. the roller basically took the finished product, touched the cap of the cigar to the foot and it bouched right back. Then he put it in the bundle with the rest and continued on rolling.
                        Wish he took pictures really............

Very interesting Ieremy, I guess a fresh rolledstick must be more flexible then we imagine.

                            do consider anecdotal exageration though!
i'm pretty sure even the real simon bolivar wouldn't done that to his men somedays in order to cause more intrigue
