Fake RyJ's?

I got talking to a guy at work and he has given up cigar smoking.
He kindly said I could have what's left of his collection.

Problem being... He had a couple of RyJ's in a Senoirta kind of size with him and when he gave them to me.... Well frankly they look like the fakest sticks in the world!

I didn't have the heart to say anything, but here's to hoping there's something decent in the selection he's bringing in. The only thing I do know is that these RyJ's came from a holiday to Cuba and there is almost a whole box of these to follow along with a mixed bag of other stuff.

Ah well it's free and his heart is most certainly in the right place!

Resort staff often punt fake sticks, and IME, RyJ rank high on the list of those for sale. Don't write them off though, and like you say, they're gratis. Smoke away Perhaps post a picture?

A few do. Yupp. RYJ is one brand that carries a cello wrapped stick. But I think most were discont. In the early 2000 once they started to up their quality again. That's when a few more cigar vitolas started showing up too. The plastic wrapped ones almost all disappeared. But you can find some of puritos and exquisitos if you look real hard.
Mate of mine told me he gave up on Cohibas, Montes, and RYJs after 1990 because of the quality drop whereas bolivar and others still kept their heads high. So I wouldn't really take them if they're between 95 and 05 if they're over $25 each (that's still stretching it!)

Am I missing something? Looks like a perfectly good Puritos to me..band is fine & the cello looks genuine..only way to really tell is smoke them..

So I have done a bit more looking and off the back of whats been said here and what i have seen via google searches they do indeed appear to be potentially real. Let me get this strait though, am I right in saying that the RyJ Puritos are effectively a slightly bigger RyJ mini AKA "CCC" Cuban Cafe Creme?

Yeah RyJ do the mini, club and purito, all machine rolled cigarillo's.

Never really bothered to venturing into them myself except for some Partagas mini's and Cohiba club's a few years back!

Yo VTG, I regularly smoke RyJ Puritos & Partagas Chicos as a good quick smoke..I dislike all the minis I have tried...Puritos are slightly larger than minis, as are the Chicos...both worth a try IMO.
As for them being fakes..there is not enough value in them to make them worthwhile to the little fakers!
