    Counterfeits and photos

    Hi All,

    I am new on the forum - I have been smoking only for a short while and have yet only tried a few Cubans such as RYJ, Montecristo, Cohibas etc...

    Anyway - A relative donated these to me, I began to realise they weren't right a few days ago and started poking around online...Now I know they are certified counterfeits, stupid I didn't notice before...But I will know for the future...

    We have Cohiba Siglo VI & Montecristo No 4....Or, Fauxhiba Sicklo Vee Eye and Wonkycristo No 4!!

    I'm no expert on spotting fake cubans but the varying colour alone is enough to give it away, I also think the COHIBA band looks a little off because I'm fairly sure it doesn't cut the third line of squares like that in a genuine- but could be mistaken. Sorry to hear about that man but chances are your Uncle didn't know they were fake and was just being very generous so I wouldn't mention it to him.

    I'm sure other people will be able to confirm it for you though.

      Yeah, I dont want to burst his bubble...They will do for visitors...I smoked one of the Cohibas with him and it wasn't bad!!

                They are a bit all over the place I'm afraid .... but they were free, and if they were bolted together in Cuba might not be to bad to smoke. Like you say, give them to those who might otherwise waste the genuine thing.

                  The craftmanship on the Monte 4 box is pretty damn good! I've never seen a good fake Monte 4 box in my day.. so this one really takes the cake.

                  It's really scary seeing how the fakies are catching up to the real ones in box quality and everything!! Not these ones, but these boxes have their own perks. Like the cohiba band! 3 dots. Fine nice writing, the gold in its place (unsure of colour beacuse they're just picture)..
                  Nowadays, you would have to have seen at least 5 real boxes before you can tell a fake one anymore. This is because the fake ones are now starting to have the serial numbers written as well as the date stamps.. but just in different fonts and sizes..... Don't you hate it when your enemy is starting to level the playing field??

                    Who's to say that the box isn't genuine? I don't know enough about the subject to be I able to tell but I'm sure it would be easy enough for counterfeiters to get a batch of used genuine boxes and put fake cigars in...

                        Do some searching on this forum on the previous threads regarding counterfeit cigars and you will have a better understanding.

                          That's true, Chico. And I think there's probably an old post on this forum somewhere that included a link to a site where you could buy all kinds of counterfeit packaging, including boxes and bands.

                              Anyways...Im lighting one up tonight for the fun! I have the next 11 days off work, and have a stop at Turmeaus Liverpool next week
