Last Saturday we had a special meal onboard the merry ship Curlew, to celebrate 2,000 days LTI free. This remarkable achievment means no serious accidents for 5 1/2 yrs! This is great for everyone except the medic's, who haven't had anone to practise on lately
To further on from my rather hypothermic 'rare' steak, I retired for a couple fo wee smokes. The first was a ERDM DT, ERDM.DT.2013.03.24.SAM_0341.jpgERDM.DT.SAM_0344.jpgERDM.DT.2013.03.24.SAM_0343.jpgfollowed by my first Boli DT,Boli.DT.2013.03.24.SAM_0345.jpg curtesty of that great BOLT Tippex.
I thought this a very refined smoke, no burn or draw issues, Boli flav squeezed into the slim profile.Boli.DT.2013.03.24.SAM_0346.jpg On thBoli.DT.2013.03.24.SAM_0349.jpgeir own they wouldn't have really been enough after such a heavy meal but together with a suitable pause inbetween, they worked just fine.
Two days later the OIM (Captian) banned smoking in the Smoking TV lounge, due to complaints received from the non-smokers that the smell of smoke could be detected halfway down the corridor, & the laundry stinks of smoke straight from the laundry, which is right next to the smoking room, which has only a single door & no effective extraction.
Of course the non smokers are right but we hope Shell will install some negative presure extraction so when the dooor opens, the air is drawn in, rather than escaping at present. However this is unlikley to be a priority on rig that hasn't produced for 11months so who know's if this will prove to be the end of an era?
The only place we can smoke onboard at present is in the dirty tea shack, where the guys come in to a tea break in their coveralls. It's only 10' x 4' & could have 20+ guys in there if everyone tried to get in at the same time. I won't be going in there for a cigar!
