I saw Ajay's mailshot the other day, thought the offer price for a box of these was pretty fair for a Grand Reserva...

It's not a grand reserva, only a reserva

Did it taste like a proper r and j?

Sorry Monkey I couldn't tell you!

It was an enjoyable smoke, burnt flawlessly, smooth and really picked up in strength in the final third. However having landed just yesterday I think they probably need a little rest.

As per above this is a reserva not gran reserva.

The packaging was really nice, black gloss with the r&j logo embossed down the left hand side. To open the box there's a small button to press instead of the magnet on the BHK's. quite cool.

I'm a sucker for the marketing and was considering the box purchase but I had to ask myself the question, was it better than a good Luisi (my favourite cigar) and the answer was no, not today.

I'll try it again once it's had time to settle and reevaluate. To be honest for now I'm holding out for the Luisi gran reserva.

Which must mean it's dire. JS is usually quite generous with his reviews of new Habanos.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

                    From Nino's blog:

As of new cigars : The Partagas Lusitania GR was excellent, I am happily carrying some back home and the Cabeza Tumbada, the “resting head” – a dream to smoke.

Call me dumb, but what are the differences between gran reserva and reserva (other than cost)
