These fakes are more difficult to spot than some I have seen on here, like the glass topped boxes. Always good to see photos so you know what to look out for.

I though they were pretty good and probably would fool most non-afficianado's.

Great post Paul a good reminder. For this reason I would only buy premium priced cigars from a very well known source ie Fox's or C.gars .
I dont know too many BOTL who put Cohibas in thier top five smokes.
I wonder what is the least likely cigar to be a fake ?
since iv not purchased any cohibas to date id be relatively clueless by box, but my brother picked up some cohibas which his friend got in the factory the absolute real deal only 60? for 35 cigars....
needless to say alarms struck at every point when he relayed the story, when he finally got them he had a pretty-ish looking box for 25 esplendidos and a back of with 10 loose sticks the foots hadn't been cut.
but primarily for me if i was blind and hadn't heard a word of what was said was the smell the flavour and the draw, i tried one, curiosity and that, absolutely certain i must of smoked a beetle as well, but it was simply a lot of effort and very little flavour, tight draw, pointless effort little aroma, if i compared it to anything else in my humidor..
Baileyth: That's coz they were fakes. They charge more than that for 'real' just slippped out of the factory cigars but you can never be sure aso I never take the chance. They are cheap enough in the official outlets to get the real thing without the added risk of beetles & poorly rolled sticks.
Will: I add value for money to my ratings system & without that, the Esplendidos would get get in my top 5 regular production smokes & the Lancerous just a point behind. I think the price is vastly inflated & that's what puts peole off, they are nearly dble the price of similar vitola but maybe only 25-30% better (which is a purely subjective opinion after all).
