Smoked my last Bolivar Petite Belicoso 2009 LE last night. Very enjoyable first half with perfect draw, becoming strong - too strong - in the second half. Burn wasn't particularly good either in second half, with a good 3/4" of wrapper remaining intact whilst the rest burned, before going out completely

Haven't smoked one since they were new. Your experience sounds very familiar to my impressions then.
Sounds like 3 years has not done much to tame these little beasts. Perhaps another 30 might do the trick?
Anyone else smoked one recently?

hey mr cigar, sorry to hear this about your bolivar pb experience! i've never had one, don't think i ever will unless i manage to pick up a couple of singles next time i get to dublin! they were super strong..... unsmokeable when released according to most! however, the guys on friends of habanos have reviewed them twice and they reckon they're great! last review was in 2010 and they rated it 90-91 so, monkey, perhaps it's time to bust one out and see what you think!
here's the first review:

Synonyms: aggressive, agonistic, argumentative, assaultive, belligerent, brawly, chippy, combative, confrontational, contentious, discordant, disputatious, feisty, gladiatorial, militant, pugnacious, quarrelsome, scrappy, truculent, warlike

I remember discussing this stick with Simon Chase a couple of years ago. He pointed it that it may have all the characteristics for great long-term ageing potential. I will seek out a single and have a go but judging from such a hardcore early experience 10-20 years is probably what is needed.
But I am not the biggest Boli fan so others will be better placed to comment.Originally posted by Simon BolivarLittle medical correction there Steve, you will surely die...but not from smoking these

Probably the most random thread to post on after not having posted for about a year and a half, but wanted to throw in my thoughts.
I have to agree with monkey. Having smoked at launch and then about 2 years later, they haven't changed much. The tobacco, to me, doesn't taste clean- I think that it hasn't been fermented fully and to that end it will take 15 years at least before it will be ready.

Wow, interesting comments. Does anyone have any intention of keeping any for 10, 15, or in monkey's case, 30 years.
On a more skeptical note, have Bolivar launched this as special (LE), as do the whisky makers with their whisky, as a marketing ploy to charge over the odds for something that's not really anything more than standard gear?

Had a couple on release then one a little later. Fecking strong and I've avoided them at all costs ever since!
Would be interested to see what others think, now. But as was said, it may take a considerably long time before they're smokeable for me!
